John “Oster” Manufacturing Company is a manufacturer of household appliances, mostly kitchen appliances, such as: clothes irons, fans, blenders, etc.
The company was started in 1924 by John Oster, with the manufacture of "hand-operated hair clippers", designed to cut women's hair with style. In 1928, a Clipper-powered engine was introduced.
In 1946, in order to diversify, the Oster company purchased the Stevens Electric Company, which had received a patent on the "liquefaction" blender in 1922.1 After the acquisition, the brand Osterizer was adopted for these mixers.
