AIWA is a Japanese electronics company that had its global boom period during the 1970s and 1980s marketing home audio and video equipment. It was a pioneer in its country in the sale of radio recorders and mini cassette components, digital audio tapes (DAT) and stereo headphones, among others.

The return of the AIWA brand

In 2017, after a long process of disappearance from the market, and more than a year of negotiations in April 2017, Sony transferred the marketing to its subsidiary Towada Audio, thus beginning a new stage by which Towada Group Corp. (known for being an OEM manufacturer of several products for Sony) constitutes AIWA Co. Ltd. in Tokyo Japan and initiates contacts with different groups worldwide to initiate the relaunch of the brand, a process in which the agreement reached with United e Group, which could be extended to other European countries.

In this new stage of the 'AIWA' brand, the product portfolio will cover a wide range of audio products, such as "HI-RES" and "ANC" and Bluetooth wireless headphones, speakers Bluetooth and outdoor, mini systems, tablets, telephony, the so-called "Boomboxes" and turntables, among others. In addition, the catalog also has 4K LED televisions with the quality that characterizes the brand, opening a gap with the competitors in the segment.

Although Towada Audio Corporation has manufacturing facilities in Japan, specifically in Kosaka (Japan), at the moment the current production of 'AIWA' devices originates from manufacturing facilities in China through other companies. In addition, Towada also has subsidiaries in Vietnam (Towada Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd.) and Hong Kong (HK Towada Electronics Co., Ltd.), among others.
